چکیده

We consider the Friedel sum rule in the context of the scattering theory for the Schrödinger operator −D2 x + V (x) on graphs made of one-dimensional wires connected to external leads. We generalize the Smith formula for graphs. We give several examples of graphs where the state counting method given by the Friedel sum rule is not working. The reason for the failure of the Friedel sum rule to count the states is the existence of states localized in the graph and not coupled to the leads, which occurs if the spectrum is degenerate and the number of leads too small. Local Friedel sum rule on graphs

We consider graphs made of one-dimensional wires connected at vertices and on which may live a scalar potential. We are interested in a scattering situation where the graph is connected to infinite leads. We investigate relations between the scattering matrix and the continuous part of the local density of states, the injectivities, emissivities and partial local density of states. Those latter...

We summarize three alternative extensions of the quark-valence picture of nucleon strangeness and spin, including (1) gluon spin in QCD, (2) Bjorken sum rule and QCD, (3) D–E meson mixing and tadpole leakage. All three approaches suggest that ∼ 40% of the nucleon’s spin (as well as its momentum) resides with quarks, but that less than 6% is due to strange quarks.

We review the theory and present status of the proton spin problem with emphasis on possible gluonic and sea contributions. We discuss the possibility of a J = 1 fixed pole correction to the Ellis-Jaffe sum rule for polarized deep inelastic scattering. Fixed poles in the real part of the forward Compton scattering amplitude have the potential to induce subtraction constant corrections to sum ru...
